Graduate Student Welcome Event

Sunday May 4 - Time: 16:30 - 18:00 Location: Corum Centre - Antigone 2

This informal gathering for all registered graduate students and post-doctoral researchers attending the conference will provide an opportunity to connect with new and old friends alike, serve as a venue to discuss strategies and approaches for getting the most out of the conference, and cultivate a community of young scholars in a casual atmosphere.

Creative and reflective space

From Tuesday May 6 to Thursday May 8 - Time: 8:30 - 18:00 Location: Salon du Belvédère (last floor of Corum)

Students' perspectives on sustainability science research - are we moving towards un-disciplinarity?

Tuesday May 6 - Time: 10:20 - 11:20 Location: Corum - Barthez

This conference session is geared towards discussing common obstacles faced by young resilience researchers, particularly related to the challenges and opportunities associated with being an inter/ transdisciplinary scientist, and features an interactive theatre play and a panel discussion with Frances Westley, David Tàbara and Joern Fischer.

As part of the session, results from a survey on the disciplinary background of Resilience and Sustainability scholars will be presented. Please take 2 minutes to do this survey if you are attending the conference! The survey can be found here.

Cultivating a Community of Young Scholars: Where to from here?

Wednesday May 7 - Time: 15:40 - 16:40 Location: Corum Centre Antigone 1

A brown-bag lunch workshop to discuss what form student collaboration could/should take in the future. It will provide an opportunity for interested graduate students and post-doctoral researchers to determine next steps with people whom they have connected with over the course of the conference. Perhaps it may inspire small working groups around different issues, the creation of a platform for the larger community of graduate students and young resilience scholars... the sky is the limit.
